The Greattalk Debate Competition
Welcome to the third annual Greattalk Debate Competition, a prestigious event open to students from Year 5 to Year 13. Our competition is designed to inspire and challenge young minds, fostering critical thinking, reasoning skills, teamwork, leadership, and independent learning.
Each year, we bring together bright students to engage in meaningful debates, helping them to develop the essential skills they need to excel in academic and real-world environments.
Our Team
Ben Fraser is a former Captain of the Saint Kentigern College Premier Advanced Debating team and Auckland Regional Development Squad member. His team reached the final of the Premier Advanced grade. He has continued to be involved in debating as an adjudicator and coach since graduating in 2019.
Ben is currently studying for a BA/LLB(Hons) at the University of Auckland and works for a former Court of Appeal judge as a legal assistant.

Personally, I’ve always loved public speaking and I especially enjoy debating, both of which CubeeKiz has provided an excellent platform for. Since 2017, I’ve been part of Cubee, a truly outstanding group that teaches you awesome skills, and really helps you extend yourself. I have successfully organized and trained students for the past two editions of this Debate competition.
I have been involved in debating at school since Year 8. Last year, I competed in the Auckland Schools Debating Competition in the Premier Junior league. This year, I am proud to represent my school in the Premier Advanced league with Year 12 and 13 students. Earlier this year, I debated in the
Auckland Schools Seasonal and Auckland Regional competitions. Furthermore, I was also a debater in the Auckland Schools Debating Junior Championships this year and was awarded the Top Speaker award. At the Auckland Schools Impromptu Cup this year, I was awarded the 2nd Best Speaker in the novice (Y10 and 11) division.
I look forward to the event and I am sure we will hear thought-out and compelling arguments from all participants.

I have the honor of working with her to host the annual GreatTalk Debate Competition. Regardless of whether or not you have any experiences in debating, I am sure you will all walk away with useful skills within debating and even beyond.
In terms of my debating experience, I have debated for 4 years now, attending inter-school competitions: the Auckland Schools Debating Competition. In the past years I have participated in the Junior Open and Premier Junior league, and this year I participated in the Premier Advanced league. I have also taken part in the Auckland Schools Regional Competition, Auckland Schools Impromptu Cup and Auckland Schools Seasonal Competition. Moreover, I also have experience as an adjudicator for debating in the Junior Open league. I am a school prefect and I coach Year 11-13 students, preparing them for competitions like Auckland Schools Debating Competition in the Senior Open and Advanced Open league. In the past, I have also run the Year 7-8 Debating Club in school.
I thoroughly look forward to judging this event, and more so the amazing arguments and responses from every debater.
