The GreatTalk 2025 Speech Contest Winners Visit New Zealand Parliament

The winners of the GreatTalk 2025 Speech Contest were honoured with a special visit to New Zealand Parliament Buildings, where they took part in an inspiring and memorable learning experience.

During the visit, students participated in a live debating role-play inside the parliamentary chamber. Taking on the roles of Members of Parliament, they delivered speeches on a formal motion, demonstrating outstanding communication skills, critical thinking, and the ability to use language to influence, inspire, and engage an audience.

This immersive experience allowed students to gain first-hand insight into how Parliament operates, deepening their understanding of civic processes and the responsibilities of public leaders.

The programme concluded with a formal Prize Giving Ceremony held at the Parliament theatre. Certificates were presented by Nancy Lu, Member of Parliament, Pauline Prendergast, Chairperson of Speech New Zealand; and Jessie Xinxiao Wu, Founder of the GreatTalk Programme.

This experience reinforced a powerful message for all participants: strong communication skills extend far beyond the classroom or competition stage. They are essential tools for academic success, personal growth, and future career pathwaysx empowering young people to confidently express their ideas and make a meaningful impact in the world.
